The Texas General Land Office (GLO) uses federal CDBG-DR grant money to repair, rebuild, or reimburse damage to a homeowner's primary residence in eligible disaster-declared counties. Eligible homeowners apply online through the GLO portal, are reviewed first-come first-served, and the grant pays for the work or reimburses out-of-pocket repairs (no repayment).

Steps to apply

  1. Confirm your home is your primary residence in one of the eligible disaster-declared counties (Houston and Harris County are excluded) and that your disaster damage meets the program minimum (at least $8,000 for the Homeowner Assistance Program).
  2. Go to the GLO apply page and choose ONE program: the Homeowner Assistance Program (repair or rebuild) or the Homeowner Reimbursement Program (reimbursement for out-of-pocket repairs already done). You may apply to only one.
  3. Create an account in the GLO online application portal and complete your application.
  4. Upload every item on the GLO Document Checklist (ownership, primary residence, disaster damage, insurance, taxes and child support, identity).
